Eight adults lost their lives and ten children lost their parents in one of the most notorious murder cases in Iceland. They took place in the north of Iceland; Sjöundaá in Rauðasandur in 1802 and Illugastöðum in Vatnsnes in 1828. These cases have been the source of novels and plays ever since.
