Criminal cases in mid nineteenth century Iceland were usually about two things; sheap stealing or adultery. Violent crimes were consequences of the two and this book deals with a particularly violent crime that took place in the North West of Iceland on a farm called Skárastaðir. Among the sources the author, historian Anna Dóra Antonsdóttir, refers to are the actual court documents from the case that dragged on for about two years.
