In autumn 1946, Aðalheiður Hólm, moved to the Netherlands with her Dutch husband that she met in Iceland during the Second World War. Already then she had had a remarkable life. Formed a union of women workers at the age of eighteen and was a prominent figure in the labour movement of the time in Iceland. Her role in the Netherlands was always that of the outsider, fighting for her existence. This is the second edition of a book first published in 1994.
