Ari Jóhannesson, a doctor by profession, was awarded the Tómas Guðmundsson literary prize for his first work Öskudagar (2007) and here in his second novel he writes about events taking place in Reykjavík in the fall of 1918. The whole town is in grip of the Spanish Flu, the volcano Katla has just erupted and one of the coldest winter in Iceland´s history is settling in.
