In the summer of 1627, Barbary corsairs from North Africa raided Iceland. Among the captives Ólafur Egilsson, a Lutherian Minister in his sixties and his family. This book contain his chronicle of the experience as well as describing his journey from Algiers to Denmark to raise funds to ransom his family and the other Icelandic captives. Included are also letters written by enslaved Icelanders and eye-witness accounts of the raid.
