An historical novel by Sally Magnusson, granddaughter of Magnus Magnusson. The Turkish invasion happened in Iceland in 1627 when pirates from Algiers kidnapped a large number of Icelanders mostly from Vestmannaeyjar. The main character of the book is Ásta, wife of the minister Ólafur Egilsson who later wrote his Reisubók that chronicles his experience of the kidnapping.
