In the summer of 1627, Barbary corsairs from North Africa raided various parts of Iceland. Killing and capturing over four hundred, transporting them to Salé and Algiers to be sold into slavery. Among the captives was a Lutherian minister in his sixties and his young family and this is his extraordinary account of the raid, travels and life that awaited them.
