Rasmus Kristian Rask (1787–1832) was a linguistic and language enthusiast par excellence. He was also very ambitious on behalf of Icelandic culture and language. One of those that started Hið íslenska bókmenntafélag (The Icelandic Literature Society) in 1816, he was a pioneer in many fields of society in Iceland in the nineteenth century. This book, written by Kirsten Rask, also sheds light on the many struggles and hardships he had to overcome in his lifetime.
