One of the most dramatic convoys went from Hvalfirði, Iceland, to Russia in the second world war transporting army supplies for the Soviet Union. The convoy was bombarded constantly and suffered heavy casulties but made it eventually. One Icelander, Albert Sigurðsson, made the journey and this book is based upon his experience.
