Rosa Liksom, born Anni Ylävaara, is a Finnish writer and artist. Critically acclaimed in her country and elsewhere and this translation by Sigurður Karlsson in Icelandic is truly worth a mention. The narrator in this story is an old woman looking back on her life and in particular her relation and violent marriage with an older man, the colonel.
