Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette is a novelist, film director and screenwriter from Quebec. In this book she writes about her grandmother, artist Suzanne Meloche born in the shadow of the tyranny of the Catholic church and the English speaking majority in Ottawa. How she would escape the fate of ther foremothers, of endless childbirth and find an existence and life of her own.
