Jón B. K. Ransu is an artist and an art critic. He has been ambitious in his writing about Icelandic art and art scene and this is his third book on the subject the other two being Málverkið sem slapp út úr rammanum (2014) and Listgildi samtímans (2006). Here he focuses on horror and the abstract in art, with both Icelandic and international artists.
