At the end of the eighteenth century, people began talking about the importance of encouraging home industry in Iceland. The same had been done in the other Nordic countries as the industrial revolution brought about changes in what had been traditional household industry. There was an awakening in keeping crafts alive. From this movement rose the Heimilisiðnaðarfélag Íslands (Icelandic house industry society) founded in 1913. This book tells the story of this remarkable society.
