There are not many mentions of ceramics from Icelandic clay in the history of Iceland. The word "deiglumór" can be found however and that is the name the authors of this history of ceramics in Iceland from 1930 - 1970, Kristín G. Guðnadóttir and Inga S. Ragnarsdóttir choose for a title. The Icelandic artist Guðmundur Einarsson from Miðdal was a pioneer of the art in Iceland along with Ragnar Kjartansson. This book is truly a much needed documentation of this aspect of Icelandic art history.
