In 1828 farmer Friðrik in the valley of Kata in Iceland murdered his neighbour farmer and physician Natan Ketilsson. Natan's housewive Sigríður and his maid Agnes also plotted with Friðrik in the murder. The murder and the fatal attractions that led to Natan's demise has been the topic of many a stories and poems since, the latest being Burial Rites by Hannah Kent.
