It is 1940 and the horrors of World War II have started. For some months Icelandic authorities have been working on enabling Icelanders living in Europe to return home. Finally, British and German authorities gave the permission for the largest Icelandic ship at the time, Esjan, to carry some 340 Icelanders from Petsamo in the North of Finland to Iceland. That unforgettable voyage, is told here for the first time by Davíð Logi Sigurðsson.
