This books deals with the live and times of Jón Jónsson or Jonas Rugman.  He worked as an assistant to scholars in Uppsala, Sweden after having moved there in 1662. History has not treated Jón kindly describing him as a drunkard and a womanizer. This is a book has some words in his defence.
