Baldvin Einarsson (1801 - 1833) was one of the more prominent figures in Iceland's struggle for independence in the early nineteenth century. After having started the journal "Ármann á alþingi" in 1829 he went to Copenhagen to study. He left behind his fiance, Kristrún Jónsdóttir, and this book is a study into their correspondence. However only from his side as her letters are regrettably lost, the study is marvelously interesting all the same.
